Description: 

What are we, as companies, teams, or individuals, trying to do and why? How can we break our efforts down into achievable pieces without losing focus and drive? How can we identify new opportunities along the way and re-prioritize effectively?

Come alone, or bring your team! Through a combination of presentation and workshop activities, we will self organize in groups and explore how to develop and establish organizational identity, purpose and themes. From there we will workshop through ideating relevant opportunities worth pursuing as well as how to decompose them into actionable, achievable, testable tasks.

Attendees will leave with a backlog of relevant tasks connected to opportunities that directly align to their goals and identity as an organization.

We’ll cover the following topics. Familiarity with the topics will be helpful, but not required:

* Liberating Structures
* SWOT analysis
* Lean Startup
* Weighted Shortest Job First
* Impact Mapping
* Story Mapping
* Ready Stories
* Acceptance Criteria
* Definition of Done
* Agile methodology in general
* Agile frameworks like Scrum
* General business management techniques and challenges

* 1pm Distilling Conversations into Ready Stories
* 2pm Impact Mapping / Story Mapping

About the instructor: 

I've been leading teams for over a decade, gaining extensive experience in all aspects of product design and development. Working as an Agile Coach, I've been a regular consultant for Fortune 100, EDU, NGO, and GOV organizations.

I've also contributed to free software in both code and community capacities. In addition to occasional international appearances, I've been a regular presenter at Meet-ups, Camps and Conferences, usually speaking on Product and Business Strategy and Management topics. I stay involved in my local community as a lead organizer of NERD, a New England based non-profit for the inclusion and advancement of computer science and development in its region.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with departmental honors in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts. I hold certifications for Certified SAFe® 4 Program Consultant, Agile Coach (ICP-ACC), CSP-SM, Certified Scrum Product Owner®.

My primary passion and motivation is in delivering better products by getting production teams and customers closer together through automation and empathy. I’m a published author and keynote speaker on these subjects and enjoy their real life challenges in the trenches of the enterprise. I aspire to apply my skills and past successes in leadership strategy and management innovation to larger and larger organizations.
